The Bluff Towers

Posted 04 March 2007

The Bluff Shopping Centre, now known as the Bluff Towers, was built 25 years ago. Our brief was to change the dated architecture and add to the centre. Originally about 10 000 sqm and now 22 000sqm of GLA.

The challenge was to keep the centre trading during the extensions and upgrade. All the existing tenants had to upgrade/expand, this created a real challenge of how to keep them trading and at the same time upgrade their space and/or build a new “box” for them.

The site and access points into the mall needed to be optimized. Optimize the parking areas and make use of the key anchors to the centre, mainly Checkers, Woolworths and Edgars.

The Towers, three of them, are designed on landmarks, and are positioned over the entrances to the centre. At night they are lit from the inside and the colours change every 24 hours.
